As part of our visit to the Island of Capri, we went to the town of Anacapri and rode the chair lift to the highest point of the island – Monte Solaro.
Getting to the Island of Capri
We took a ferry from Marina Piccola in Sorrento and after a 30 minute trip, we arrived at the marina in Capri. From the Marina we took the funicular up the hill to Piazza Umberto I. At the piazza we hired one of the multicolored, open air taxis to bring us to the town of Anacapri. The ride was around 15 minutes and cost about 10 euros .
When we arrived at Anacapri, the taxi dropped us off at Piazza Vittorio. (If you take the bus from Marina Grande or Capri, the bus station is located right off Piazza Vittorio.) The chairlift is a two minute walk from the Piazza. It’s on the corner of Salita Caposcuro and Via Capodimonte.
If you make it to Anacapri don’t miss out on this epic adventure. It’s totally worth the time and effort to get there and you’ll be glad you did!
